Casper’s Ex is een speelse interactieve installatie over de relatie tussen mens en alledaagse technologie. Meer specifiek gaat deze installatie over de relatie tussen onze smartphones en onszelf.
Onze telefoons zijn uitgegroeid tot een van onze meest intieme metgezellen. We gaan overal samen naartoe en delen alles met ze. De relatie die we hebben met onze apparaten is co-dependent, bijna giftig eerlijk gezegd. Maar wanneer er een nieuwer, beter model verschijnt, gooien we ze zonder spijt in de onderste lade. De telefoon kan echter niet verder gaan. Heb je ooit nagedacht over hoe ze zich voelen? Jouw gegevens, jouw geur en jouw afbeelding zijn alles wat ze nog hebben. Casper’s Ex is een eenzame smartphone die is achtergelaten en probeert contact met je te maken terwijl je voorbij loopt.
How close are you to your phone, emotionally?
Casper’s Ex is a playful interactive installation on the relationship between human beings and everyday technology. More specifically, this installation is about the relationship between our smartphones and ourselves.
Our phones have grown into one of our most intimate companions. We go everywhere together, share everything with them. The relationship we have with our devices is co-dependent, verging on toxic TBH. Yet when a newer, better model comes along we discard them into the bottom drawer without remorse. The phone, however, cannot move on. Have you ever thought about how they feel? Your data, your scent, and your picture are all they have left. Casper’s Ex is a lonely smartphone that’s been left behind and is trying to connect with you while you are passing by.
